Privacy Policy

The Graphing Calculator is designed to work without collecting your personal data. This policy describes, in plain terms, what happens with your information.

What we collect

There are no accounts or sign-ups. To understand aggregate usage, the site uses Google Analytics, which collects usage data such as pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location. Browsing the site, plotting functions, and saving graphs send no personal information — like your name or email — to any server, because the site never asks for it.

AI assistant

When you send a message to the AI math assistant, your message and a compact summary of your current calculator state (expressions, viewport) are sent to the site’s own server endpoint (/api/ai/math). If an AI provider key is configured, the server forwards your message to the AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate a response. The server never logs your messages or any API key; rate-limiting state is kept only in memory and expires within minutes.

When no provider key is configured, the assistant runs in a clearly labeled mock mode: responses are generated by deterministic local logic and no AI provider is contacted. Local intents (for example, “plot y = x^2”) are handled entirely in your browser and never reach a server.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to recognize returning visitors and measure aggregate usage. These are the only third-party cookies on the site; there is no advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, without breaking the calculator.

What stays in your browser

Your theme preference and your calculator workspace (expressions, viewport, settings) are stored only in your own browser’s localStorage. They never leave your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them permanently.
